Logic - "Everybody"
Logic's third studio album is coming 5/5/17! The first single is "Everybody" and features Logic's signature production with 6ix. His flows are smooth and passionate, talking about his biracial identity and the ridiculous things people tell him about his race(s). The second verse really goes into a lot of detail about how he's treated as both white and black and how messed up people's assumptions can be on both sides. "In my blood there's the slave and the master, it's like the Devil playing spades with the pastor." He's surprisingly gracious and not bitter throughout his albums despite not being "accepted by the black or the white, I don't give a f*** - praise God I can see the light." The chorus is unifying, saying that everybody bleeds and loves. I don't think existing Logic fans will be disappointed. I love Logic, this song is dope and there's a lot of anticipation for the May 5 album drop. The album is also called Everybody.

Mindz of a Different Kind - BORDERLINEZ EP
This EP is a short foray into the sound of popular Austin rap quartet Mindz of a Different Kind. The lyricism and production is reminiscent of an earlier time. An East Coast production rife with sampling meets smooth southern flows. The production isn't flashy and the flows are so smooth and easygoing that at first this EP seems a little understated. However, the second round of listening really brought out the richness of the production - how melodies and samples come in behind the flows to make you want to sing along (this makes "Prometheus" dope!). The opening song, "222," has a great chorus guest vocal to sing along with. The subject matter is socially conscious with a lot of depth; topics from women in hip-hop to crime to the rappers' constant self-awareness all get touched on. The production is some easygoing boom bap with a lot of blues and soul influence. They have a slightly trippy sound, with a touch of acid rock/blues elements at times. It's a good continuation of their latest album Foursight - they're very good at making records to sit back to, kick your legs up and drift away in thought - away from the rest of the world.
